The lower section of the mattress cover is an easy clean non toxic PVC mattress protector. Mattress is made from CMHR 25 density hypo-allergenic foam. Made in England. Conforms to both BS1877 and BS7177 How good is your foam mattress? The main qualities which make a good foam mattress are the softness and density of the foam. Baby mattresses sold in the UK need to comply with the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishing (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988. One of the cheaper methods to achieve this is by the addition of Melamine. This has the adverse effect of making the foam harder and less comfortable. Our Deep Comfort mattresses are made from higher quality foam which avoids the use of cheap Melamine to meet the required Fire Safety standards and are softer and more comfortable. Generally the minimum density for baby mattresses factor 25 and will normally be described as CMHR25 foam. The Density of the foam is not related to the softness of the mattress but the weight of the foam per cubic metre. CMHR25 foam would weigh 25Kg if you had a 1 Metre cube of foam. If you have cheap heavy elements in the composition of the foam such as Melamine less material is required to achieve factor 25 resulting in larger air bubbles giving less resilience and a shorter life to the mattress.
